Grant Thornton Mauritius: A New Chapter

Grant Thornton Mauritius: A New Chapter

After 16 years of successful operations in outsourcing services in Mauritius, Grant Thornton Services Ltd (formerly GPO Ltd), a wholly owned subsidiary of Grant Thornton France, is entering a new phase of its journey.

In addition to its established outsourcing activities, Grant Thornton Services Ltd will now expand its offering to include advisory and tax services and Grant Thornton Audit (Mauritius) LLP (“Grant Thornton”) will be responsible for delivering audit services. Together, both entities will represent Grant Thornton in Mauritius and will continue to be part of Grant Thornton France, which is now extending its territorial rights in Mauritius. This strategic transformation marks a significant milestone in the firm’s evolution and further strengthens Mauritius’ position within the global professional services landscape.

The transition to Grant Thornton Mauritius reflects the natural progression of the business and its deeper integration into the global Grant Thornton network. It aligns the Mauritian entity with the internationally recognised Grant Thornton International, one of the world’s leading audit, tax and advisory networks present in 166 countries. This integration strengthens the firm’s global connectivity while preserving its local expertise and agility.

Beyond the brand change, the transition signals a broader strategic expansion. Grant Thornton Mauritius will progressively grow from a specialised outsourcing provider into a multidisciplinary professional services firm. Its service offering will span four key areas: Audit, Advisory, Tax and Outsourcing solutions. This expansion will enable the firm to support clients more comprehensively across their entire business lifecycle, from compliance and reporting to strategic advisory.

Mauritius plays a central role in this strategy. Its geographic position between Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East, combined with its stable political environment and strong international financial services framework, makes it an ideal hub for global operations. The long-standing economic and business ties between Mauritius and France further reinforce the strategic value of this expansion.

People remain at the heart of the organisation’s transformation. Grant Thornton Mauritius will continue to invest in the development of Mauritian talent through training, leadership programmes and internationally recognised certifications such as ACCA and ICAEW.

The firm also reaffirms its commitment to governance, compliance and professional standards through continued engagement with key regulatory bodies, including the Mauritius Institute of Professional Accountants (MIPA) and the Financial Reporting Council (FRC). This ensures that its operations continue to meet the highest levels of quality and ethical standards.

About the Firm

Globally, Grant Thornton International brings together more than 80,000 professionals across 166 countries, generating US$8.5 billion in revenue in 2025. The transition therefore provides Mauritian businesses with direct access to world-class expertise, while maintaining the personalised service and local understanding that have defined Grant Thornton Services Ltd success over the past 16 years.

This transformation marks not just a change of name, but the beginning of a new chapter; one that positions Mauritius more firmly on the global professional services map and opens the door to expanded opportunities for stakeholders and the broader economy.
